Adobe Flash Player is software used to view multimedia content on computers or other supported devices first released in 1996. Users looking for an application to play audio and video would download Flash Player and those who want to play a wide variety of browser games. Flash technology enables users to view media and animations in greater detail, so video games are more immersive. There are currently over 20,000 apps in the Apple and Android mobile stores that require some type of flash technology to run smoothly, as well as some of the most popular Facebook games in the gaming section. Certain webcams and microphones also require the flash technology and the functions are enabled once the users have accepted the permissions.

Due to the amount of moving parts, playing games or using software that has Flash will drain your device battery significantly, which is a hassle since it's not good to constantly have your devices plugged into a charger will in use. If you have an iPhone, you won't be able to use anything that has Flash in it as none of the devices support it due to the repeated security issues and because it isn't really open sourced. Use of the software is more trouble than it is worth, and because of this, Adobe recently announced that it will end updates and distribution of the flash player at the end of 2020. The main reasons for the death of the software are that competitors are now lightyears ahead of Flash in terms of functionality and what is offered, and that plugins, in general, are dying out. HTML5 is becoming more and more widely used as it needs less processing power and doesn't require any plugins. Adobe went on to say that other big tech companies with products that once worked in conjunction with Flash, have come together and agreed to phase out the software altogether unless it is essential to the core of the technology.

Adobe Flash Player is dead in the water. It is outdated, not secure, and always seems to be at risk of being hacked. Software and games that use the flash player will soon have other programs that will take its place, if it hasn't happened already.

No, we do not recommend downloading Adobe Flash Player. Since Adobe announced that it will no longer be updating the flash player, there is no reason to continue to install older versions as there are safer, more secure, and better-performing options. Times have changed and software has far surpassed what Flash is capable of.

These instructions will install the latest version of flash player for Chromium and it will also be updated automatically. In addition to installing flash player for Chromium, it will also install/reinstall Adobe flash player for Firefox, and it will also be updated automatically.

To install the latest version of flash player search the Dash (in Ubuntu releases before 17.10) or the Show Applications dashboard (in Ubuntu 17.10 or later) for Software & Updates and open the Software & Updates window. Click the Other Software tab in the Software & Updates window, and put a check mark in the checkbox to the left of where it says: Canonical Partners.

Installing the flash player plugin on a Linux PC has proven to be a true nightmare every time I've tried it. This time I'm on Fedora 15 x64 on a Notebook computer. I have downloaded and installed Chrome 13.0.782.112, which now resides in /opt/google/chrome.

Googling how to install the flash player plugin, I'm told that the stable release of Google Chrome has had flash player built in since some time in 2010, and that I can enable it by visiting chrome://plugins. Not surprisingly, the plugin is not there.

So I download the flash player plugin, libflashplayer.so, by installing the .rpm package from the adobe flash player download page. I try copying it into /opt/google/chrome without success. I try placing it into /opt/google/chrome/plugins without success. i tried creating a symbolic link from /opt/google/chrome/libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so (Most of the plugins shown in chrome://plugins are symbolic links placed in the chrome folder) but still no success. Between every attempt I exited Chrome from the wrench icon menu and restarting it, visiting youtube.

Unlike other flash players, Adobe Flash Player is backed by the IT giant, which develops a wide range of content-focused products. As such, the program receives regular updates and comes with various tutorials to help you learn the basics of multimedia creation. You can leverage these resources, or seek help from a solid community.

So i went to www.adobe.com and downloaded the flash player, but when trying to install it it did not work i saw it was running in the task manager for a short while then it disappeared and when going on youtube it was the same upgrade your adobe flash player message.

Don't think that the problem is solved. I have Windows 8.1. Firefox keeps asking me to upgrade Adobe Flash Player. When I upgrade it, Firefox still keeps asking me for the upgrade. E.g. when trying to open , the page says: "Dieser Service erfordert eine aktuellere Version des Adobe Flash Players. Bitte aktualisieren Sie ihre Software" = "This service requires a more recent version of Adobe Flash Player. Please update your software." So I do: I download Flash Player 12, version 12.0.0.70, from , file install_flashplayer12x32_ltr5x64d_awc_aih.exe. I install it, then restart Firefox: SAME PROBLEM! There is a basic incompatibility between Firefox 27.0.1 and Flash Player 12.0.0.70 !!! Please fix that bug.In Google Chrome, there's not any problem like this. Should I switch to Chrome? I'd prefer not to.

Google Chrome comes integrated with an up-to-date version automagically. If you prefer Chromium as your browser, you can download the chromium-pepperflash-plugin package which contains the Flash library as extracted from the official Google Chrome binaries. This plugin package will work out of the box with AlienBOB's own chromium package.

With adjustments to names depending on your architecture, of course. In any case, the file libflashplayer.so is the important bit. You will want to move that file into the correct directory for your browser.
